Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) THerapy

What is DMI therapy?

DMI exercises promote neuroplasticity and the development of new neuronal pathways in order to help children reach new motor milestones. These exercises will improve postural righting and balance reactions while providing significant vestibular and proprioceptive input that helps train the neuromuscular system.

How does DMI Work?

I will complete a thorough analysis of your child’s strength and weaknesses and listen attentively to your concerns and goals about your child’s development. I will then make any recommendations for use of supplemental therapies/equipment and help you plan for a successful DMI therapy experience. All DMI services are provided in home.

During each appointment I will complete exercises with your child that are strategically chosen to help reach you and your child’s goals. I will also teach guardians and caregivers exercises to complete at home. DMI therapy has been known to be especially successful when completed as an “Intensive”, during which the patient attends therapy for 2-3 hours/day, for 1-2 weeks. However, DMI therapy is also very successful when provided 2-3x/week for 6-12 weeks.

DMI Therapy can make a difference in just 1 week!

EMpower patients typically see improvements in tone, motor planning, strength, and coordination after 1 or 2 week intensives.
