Stroller review by a pediatric physical therapist

Welcome to EMpower PT! We work with families who want to receive pediatric physical therapy in a safe environment. We ensure each babe is comfortable, engaged, and happy. Use the ‘Contact’ page above to schedule a consultation today.

Your stroller will soon be your new best friend…or it could be your arch nemesis so choose one that fits your lifestyle and budget! Below are just a few that I liked based on ergonomics, posture, and functionality.

🥇Nuna: The bassinet and car seat connect to the stroller body without an adapter, additionally, you don’t need a base for your car seat which makes car sharing a breeze. This stroller also took the cake for smallest size when folded – great news for my NYC squad. The bassinet mattress is sleep rated, meaning it has amazing breathability.

🥈UppaBaby: Vhanges as her baby grows but it’s crazy for that same reason. The car seat is great for newborns, but I’ve seen 4+-month olds slipping down, ending up with their backs flat, their necks all kinked, and their legs up in the air – just make sure you are using the appropriate insert/cushion level.

🥉BabyJogger: associate of your time, even at it’s most upright position, making it hard for your baby to work on head control and explore their environment. The BabyJogger requires a car seat and bassinet adapter, so if you are worried about storage space this may not be the one for you. But, get this, their car seat spins to face the door – you no longer need to break your back lifting your little one!

⭐️Thule: More affordable and can double as a jogging stroller. It does require a rather large car seat and bassinet adapter for stroller use. Also, the bassinet is not sleep approved as far as I could find, so this should not be used overnight.

PS: Footboards are an amazing invention, but they only work for certain body types. If you stand back from the stroller to make room for your older child you may be leaning quite far forward resulting in low back pain. For some this can be fixed by extending the handlebar, but for others this is not enough. Footboards in which the older child stand inside the handlebars both reduces injury and reduced the potential for low back pain.
